RED DEVIL 4th Generation High Performance Ignition upgrade.
Here's you chance to Upgrade to Gru-Bee's Power Balanced 20KV "RED DEVIL" Ignition System with our 3-piece High Performance ignition kit!
1. 400V Microfarad capacitor CDI Module. Identified by total all red color and special wire terminal boot that accepts the spark plug with screw cap removed for a better secured CDI to plug connection.
2. Double flux density Neodymium Rotor magnet.
3. Special extra fine wire 440 Ohm MAGNETO field coil that sends a higher voltage kick charge to the CDI.
4. Gru-Bee Copyrighted Diamond Plaid Rotor ID to insure correct mounting. Mount rotor with ID marking outside and keyway @ 1:o-clock.
5. Plastic Wire Terminal has higher dielectric strength than thin, soft rubber.
Heads up!!! Requires removal of the spark plug screw on terminal cap to fit the CDI wire plastic boot internal connection thus giving a click locked and tight secure connection versus the cheap standard loose fit over the plug cap design that is subject to arcing which can reduce the final available KV the plug electrode. This is a small deal few people understand.
6. CDI firing degrees is tuned to match rotor position which gives a power balanced package.
HISTORY: In proven lab test the new "Gen 4" HP CDI & Magnum Magneto Coil produces a whopping 5KV more available voltage than the stock "Gen 1", Gen 2 and the Gen 3 magneto field coils.
The HP CDI and the Magnum Coil is powered by a special Neodymium Magnum Rotor magnet. Read on:
More power in = more power out = % efficiency:
The Monster Neodymium Rotor magnet has nearly twice as much flux density lines of force as compared to a standard China Doll rotor magnet.
We mark the magnum rotor magnet with a US copy righted Checkerboard Plaid pattern on the outboard side for quick ID. Mount the rotor magnet with the diamond Checkerboard Plaid pattern on the outboard side so the keyway is at 1:o'clock when the piston is at the top dead center. DO NOT INSTALL BACWARDS OR THE ENGINE WON'T START!
Check out the attached magneto coil history picture from 2000 to 2021
The "Mag Coil, Monster Rotor and HP CDI can jump a huge 1/2" air gap as compared to a 1/4" gap for the stock standard black box CDI. OK! How so? Use a spark measurement tool like what we offer for sale in next listing to measure and compare your standard old ignition KV power to that of the 20KV Red Devil.
-
The "Gen 4 Magnum magneto" has a coil with more turns of fine wire as compared to the so called "Gen 3 Fat Boy" 357-ohm coil that has larger dia. wire but with the same number of turns as a stock Gen 2, ( Output = amps turn ratio.)
-
Gen 4 Magnum hair fine wire coil ohm has resistance of 440 to 450 OHMs @ 80 degrees F measured with a quality made digital ohm meter.
-
NOTE: The hair size small wire high turn ratio field coil is a requirement to produce the 400 Volts needed to super charge a bigger micro farad CDI capacitor. It is NOT done by the weight of the copper in the field coil as we see a competitor trying to make such a uninformed claim. Delco Remy automotive industry background knowledge of CDI spark ignition design and operation is an advantage we have.
-
The CDI with the Red spark plug wire has a larger Micro Farad Capacitor to take advantage of the increased voltage (400 V ) sent out by the "Gen 4 Magnum" field coil.
-
This "Red Devil" magneto coil is identified by the red spool and has a date of manufacture sticker. Recently we have seen red spools on other coils that are not the same specs as ours. TZ is name code of the manufacture, not OZ as so claimed by another guy.
-
The MAX RED DEVIL CDI is identified by the Red terminal wire, Red Box and a Red boot. Yes, it looks the same as competitor's CDI not the same inside.
-
NOTE: The CDI plug wire special terminal fits on the spark plug with the screw cap REMOVED!!!. A special lock system keeps the connection tight and worry free.
-
The special design wire terminal plug is made of harder plastic, not soft, thin material like on those earlier generation CDI's that fit spark plugs with screw cap on.
